DisArming A Baseball Bat

DisArming A Baseball Bat

Jul 22, 2024

Bludgeoning weapons can be just as destructive and effective as a knife in a fight. And similar to defending against a knife, movement is usually the factor that determines whether you will get smashed or not.

When attacked by someone with a bat or stick you have to be ready to move in and out of their target range.

Unlike the knife which can exert its will simply by coming into contact with you, the bat and stick must have proper spacing and time to load for momentum to be effective.

The strike of the bat or stick can be made ineffective by moving out of contact range and forcing a miss, or moving inside of contact range and smothering the impact power.

Additionally, the bat and stick temporarily loses control after delivering its strike whether it misses or even lands effectively.

Here are 3 tips to defend against a bat or stick attack.

Take your Defense Stance and raise your hands to protect your head.

Assure that you have room behind yourself to back out of swinging range if needed.

DO NOT trap yourself in a corner or in a spot where you can not evade backwards, left or right.

Move in and out of the bat’s contact range. This will throw your attacker off balance by forcing him to load and swing too soon or too late.

The idea is to influence him to swing when he isn’t truly ready to swing.

You will be amazed at how easily it can be done once you understand the mechanics of the one swinging the bat.

After learning this, you will be furious at yourself for ever having been afraid of another man just because he had a bat in his hand.
